We recently published a post to Facebook which got an organic reach of 1,737. That’s a reach of 149%, based on our Facebook following of 1,161. So, how did we do it?
There’s no magic formula. That organic Facebook reach came from posting engaging and consistent content. One of our favourite phrases here at Token is ‘consistent branding’, and this should be true across all of your social media posts. It’s synonymous with recognition, trust and loyalty.
Our latest social venture is one called Token Talks. It’s a podcast/video series which discusses industry insights and strategies. We also host interviews with established business owners to understand their perspective on how they have built their respective brands through marketing.
It was this very first episode of Token Talks which achieved an organic Facebook reach of 149%. It wasn't a fluke. It was through recognition and trust.
How did we build that trust, and how can you do the same?
Social media is a cacophony that is hard to get yourself heard in. To stand out is to do something different, to be unique. We’ve found a very simple way of doing this. Make your business personal. Our Facebook followers have come to know our faces. We’re not a faceless company - we are our brand. When people see Mohsan, our CEO, they see Token. It’s that recognition that captures peoples’ attention while they quickly scroll through their newsfeed.
Here’s a quick snapshot of our recent Facebook post analytics:
Notice any similarities between the posts with high organic reach? They all have our faces in them.
It seems that the key here is to make your social media posts personal, in a business setting. It’s a trend that we’ve seen consistently on countless social media accounts that we manage. We always encourage our clients to send us personal business photos for their accounts.
Understanding when your target audience and followers are online is key to knowing when you should be posting your awesome content. There are some industry averages that will give you a rough idea of when to post, but the true best time to post is when your followers are online.
You can easily find this out by delving into your page insights.
Go to your Facebook Business page.
Click ‘Insights’, from the top menu.
Click ‘Posts’, from the left-hand menu.
You can hover over each individual day to see when your fans are online, compared to your page average.
Go to your Instagram Business page (note, it must be a Business Page).
Tap the 3-bar menu in the top-right corner.
Tap ‘Insights’, from the pop-out menu.
Scroll to the bottom to see when your followers are online.
There are two simple, strategic keys to reaching more social followers than you have any right to:
Post engaging, unique, informative content.
Post it at the right times.
If you follow these two simple steps, your organic followers will share your original content, thereby reaching far more people than your Facebook page is capable of on its own.
